ScanArm

The ScanArm is a precision measurement device that contains many sensitive components, and it should be handled with care. Take the following precautions to prevent problems from developing with your system:

• Place a dust cover over the ScanArm when not in use.

• Clean with a dry dust cloth. For heavy dirt buildup, use a very small amount of warm water and gently clean the ScanArm. Be very careful not to bend the ScanArm while cleaning.

• Check the cables for damage to outside insulation, connectors, and pins.

• DO NOT lubricate the ScanArm.

The ScanArm is compensated at FARO ’s production facility and should only need to be recompensated after the unit has been subjected to a shock that removes surface material or causes bending. Periodic calibration tests should be completed to certify the ScanArm accuracy and repeatability.

FARO recommends you return your ScanArm to a service center, once a year, for our annual calibration and a 15 point check up.

Host Computer

The computer is an electronic device containing many sensitive components. It should be handled with care. Here are some steps you can take to prevent damage to your system:

• Never use the computer in harsh environments where it may be subjected to rapid temperature change or excessive dust.

• Never expose the computer to excessive shock or vibration.

• Prevent overheating by keeping the computer's air vents clear of any obstructions.

• Never place anything on top of the computer when it is recharging or operating. This can cause the computer to overheat.

• Do not operate the computer from an AC outlet where voltage fluctuates excessively. Use a power strip with a surge protector.

• Do not use an AC adapter other than the one supplied with the computer.

• Do not push on the display screen excessively or subject it to shocks.

• Do not expose the display screen to direct sunlight, even through a window.

• Do not hold the computer by the display panel.

• Do not try to force the display panel beyond its fully opened position.

In the rare event that you should see or smell anything which indicates overheating (smoke or a strange smell), turn off the power immediately and contact your contact your Customer Service Representative by Phone, Fax or Technical Support.
