Perform the Hole Compensation using the FARO probe compensation cone. If the Guidance check box is selected for the current probe, use the following steps.

If you are using the Quantum Max Extension Adapter and have created an angled probe, click the check box to record a rotation position point during the probe compensation. See Using the Quantum Max Extension Adapter.

Collect all of the points in this method by holding down the green Front button. The Quantum Max will collect points as fast as possible (“scanning”) until each area has the correct amount of points. Release the green Front button to pause.

With the arm elbow in a vertical position relative to the base, place the ball probe in the hole. Move the handle so the probe is slightly inclined, pointing towards the arm base and rotated slightly to the left.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle up until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle down until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

Move the handle to the right for the next position.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle up until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle down until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle left until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

  1. Press and hold the green Front button. Move the handle right until the minimum amount of points are digitized.

  • Release the green Front button.

The probe must be well-seated in the hole when digitizing all compensation points. Even one or two poorly digitized points significantly affects the optimization process, which then has an effect on the accuracy of the Quantum Max.

The digitized compensation points then calculate and the Compensation Status updates.

If the probe passes, the current date and time is added to the probe information.
