Draw Roads

You can draw Roads from scratch, or recreate roads using a satellite image as a template. Click the arrow on the button to display available road types.

The following road sections are available:

Intersection 4 way 2 lane

Intersection 4 way 5 lane

Intersection 4 way 4 turn

Intersection T 2 lane

Roundabout

Roadway lane

Roadway arc

Curbs

Signs

To insert a road section:

From the Power Tools ribbon, click the Draw Roads drop-down.
Select a road segment.
Click the placement area in the diagram.
For lines and arcs:

Road Lines: Use the mouse to stretch the road to the desired length and click again.
Road Arcs: Use the mouse to stretch the arc to the desired length and click, then click again to set the arc.

You can convert Road Lines and Road Arcs to dirt roads. See Draw Dirt Roads.

Modify the intersection with the grips or with options in the tools panel. Options vary based upon the selection.
Polygon grips at the corners allow you to round the turn by dragging it. The standard grips allow you to move and rotate the intersection.

Intersection Tools Panel

Configure intersections in the Intersection tools panel. Click a lane, cross walk, or centerline to select it and apply the options from the tools panel. Options vary by the selected intersection.

Road Surface Color	Select the road surface color.
Layer	Open the Layer Manager to choose an existing layer or add a new layer for the object.
Road + Paint (Global)
Show Road Surface	Hide the road surface to only display the outlines.
Line Paint Color	Select the color for the road lines.
Lanes + Lines	Select a lane or road line, and then expand Lanes + Lines to display options.
	Add Left - Add a left lane. Add Right - Add a right lane. Left Turn Lane - Convert the selected lane to a left turn lane, and display options for it. Right Turn Lane - Convert the selected lane to a right turn lane, and display options for it. Median - Convert the selected lane to a median, and display options for it. Median Color - Select a color and texture for the median. Median Offset - Adjust the offset of the median. Median Length - Enter a value for the length of the median, or use the arrows. Arm Length - Set the length of the road segment. Lane Width - Set the lane width.
Line Color	Select the line color from a color palette.
Road Color	Display the road in color.
Lane Count	(for Roundabout) Add lanes to a roundabout intersection.
Layout	Click to open a panel with options to add or remove a road arm. Click Back to return to the tools panel.
Crosswalks + Stopbars
	Crosswalk Visible - Display or hide a crosswalk. Turn Island - Add a turn lane. Options include offset, length, and width. Lane Width - Set the lane width. Stopbar - Display or hide a stop line. Options include color, offset, and width.
Symbols (Road Markings)	Add one or more road markings to a selected lane. Click the Select Symbol dropdown arrow to view a list of symbols, and then select a symbol to place it. To add an additional symbol to the lane, deselect and then reselect the lane and place another symbol. Adjust the symbol's offset with the rotation with the grips, or use the tool panel settings. Use tool panel settings to scale the size, or mirror values for the symbol. Create custom signs by drawing vector shapes and selecting Create Sign from the multi-select tool panel.
Create Tangent Arc Road	Add an arc road to a selected road segment. Additional configuration data for the arc appears in the tool panel.
Sidewalk	Select a road edge to convert it to a sidewalk. Sidewalk Visible - Display or hide the sidewalk. Sidewalk Color - Select a color for the sidewalk. Sidewalk Width - Adjust the width of the sidwalk.

Road Color	Select the fill color.
Layer	Open the Layer Manager to choose an existing layer or add a new layer for the object.
Road Color	Display the road in color.
Lane Count	(for Roundabout) Add lanes to a roundabout intersection.
Layout	Click to open a panel with options to add or remove a road arm. Click Back to return to the tools panel.
Set Line Color	Click to select the line color from a color pallet for the entire intersection.
Crosswalk Visible	Display or hide a crosswalk.
Turn Island	Include a turning lane on or off. The on positions opens offset, length, and width options for the turn lane.
Lane Width	Set lane width.
Stopbar	Display or hide a stop line. The on position opens color, offset, and width options.
