General and View-specific Toolbars

This chapter provides an overview of the toolbars that are visible in the 2D View, the 3D view, the walk mode view as well as on the 3D Model tab. Differences between live and draft view are also mentioned.

Views Toolbar

You can find this toolbar on the lower left side of the screen: 

Changes to the 3D view, see Capture Tab: 3D View.

Default view on opening a project. Changes to the 2D view, see Capture Tab: 2D View.

Changes to the walk mode view, see Capture Tab: Walk Mode. The walk mode view is currently not available in the draft view.

3D View Toolbar

You can find this toolbar on the lower left side of the screen. This toolbar is available in the 3D view.

Click this icon to select the camera direction. Available views are top view, front view, right view, back view and left view. In the draft view, right, front and top view are available in the 2D view to inspect the current registration result.

Changes to the perspective camera. In this view, you can see the site in complete 3D as if you were on site.

Changes to the orthographic camera. In this view, the 3D elements are presented in a 2D perspective. This makes it easier to compare point clouds with 3D models or floor plans.

View Settings and Filter Toolbar

You can find this toolbar on the upper right side of the screen.

Define which elements you want to see in the current view. You can switch the visibility for waypoints, annotations, measurements and trajectories on and off. For 3D views, you can also define if you want to see only nearby objects or all objects. In the draft view, you can select displaying options for waypoints and connections. For more detailed information, see Draft View.

Either set specific tag filters or select only untagged elements. You can create and manage tags in the by clicking the icon above the project structure view. You can use the tags in annotations and you can also add them to scans and 360° photos. For more information, see Tags and Annotations and subchapters. Not available in the draft view.

You can add and edit sheets as well as select or deselect sheets, i.e. show or hide them in the Sphere XG Viewer. For more information, see add edit and delete sheets, align sheets and turn the visibility of sheets on or off. Not available in the draft view.

Recenters the view. Not available in the live view.

View-specific Toolbar

You can find this toolbar on the middle right side of the screen. The content of this toolbar varies depending on the view that is currently selected. The list below shows the single toolbar buttons with indications in which view they are available.

Live view only

2D view, 3D view, 3D model. Only possible in the walkmode view if the 360° photos have depth information: Make measurements, see Make Measurements in a Project.

3D view: Evaluate flatness and levelness of floors and ceilings as well as plumbness of walls, see Run a Point Cloud Analysis.

All views, visible only in the 2D view: Make an annotation, see Tags and Annotations.

2D view: Make colored sheet black and white, see Make a Sheet Black and White.

3D view: Create a clipping box with a subvolume of the point cloud for export, see Export a Point Cloud or an Orthophoto with a Clipping Box.

2D view, 3D view, 3D model: Create a temporary clipping box, see Create a Clipping Box in a Point Cloud or 3D Model. In the draft view, you can find this icon in the views and settings toolbar.

3D view, 3D model: Reduce and increase the opacity of the sheet, point cloud and 3D model via the sliders, see Make Sheet, 3D Model or Point Cloud Visible in Your Project.

2D view: Move and edit location markers.

Makes a screenshot of the Viewer and stores the resulting .png file in your computer's Download folder.

Draft view only

Activates the registration mode.

The following options are only available in registration mode.

Click this icon, then click the waypoint you want to move in the Viewer.

Click this icon, then click two waypoints you want to connect.

Click this icon, then click the connection you want to delete.

Undoes/redoes the last actin.

Starts a registration refinement.

Live and draft view

2D view, 3D view, 3D model: Create a temporary clipping box, see Create a Clipping Box in a Point Cloud or 3D Model. In the draft view, you can find this icon in the views and settings toolbar.

Select and Delete Captures (only Draft View)

If you select one or more scans in the project structure view or in the Viewer, another toolbar is displayed at the bottom showing the number of selected waypoints and the following options.

Hides or shows the selected waypoints. You can also hide and show single waypoints in the project structure view.

If you have selected a waypoint, clicking this icon selects all connected waypoints.

Centers on the selected waypoint.

Deletes the selected waypoints. Note that you cannot undo the deletion.
